4 Cringe Worthy Words

Everyone has those words that make them stop in their tracks and try not to vomit. If you don’t have words then i am sure you have at least one word that makes your skin crawl when it falls out of someones mouth.

Some words are worse than others and you’d love to do nothing more than shove them back into the mouth of which it came out of. However, due to laws and violations of personal space that isn’t an option so your forced to listen to every single syllable.

To your friends it’s funny so they love throwing said word into random conversation, not once but multiple times. They’ve accepted the challenge of making you feel uncomfortable as possible in that moment. Maybe because you bought them the wrong coffee or because you took their last sprinkle mini donut. The point is they are always on top of it, it never fails.

So what are my cringe worthy words you ask (you probably didn’t but for the sake of my feelings lets pretend ya did)? I have arranged them in their cringe worthy order from major cringe to least cringe and their meanings. Yuck.

1. Moist – slightly wet; damp or humid.

2. Coagulate – (of a fluid, especially blood) change to a solid or semisolid state.

3. Secretion – a process by which substances are produced and discharged from a cell, gland, or organ for a particular function in the organism or for excretion

4. Orifice – an opening, as of a pipe or tube, or one in the body.

I literally have goosebumps after writing those! How gross are they. The sound of them just violates your ears doesn’t it? The main one i truly could go the rest of my life without hearing is “moist”, and it is everywhere! It’s on cake boxes, cookies, breads, ugh. It can’t be gotten away from!

I know i am not the only one out there with these thoughts. What is your cringe worthy word?

  1. Oh god oh god oh god–MOIST! Cringes–I hate this one, too! Almost as much as the see-you-next-Tuesday word, which I heard about a million times during the vagina monologues (have you ever seen that?). My ears bled the whole time. Lol. What a fun post though!

  2. I have to say moist is definitely one of my top most cringeworthy words as well!

  3. I think moist is on a lot of people’s lists. I hate the word panties…lol.

  4. Oh, I know people who HATED the word moist. I don’t really have any words that really freak me out, but some do conjure bad images!

  5. Ah I am there with you! These make me cringe also!

  6. Hahaha this post is too funny!!! I don’t really have a cringe-worthy word, but I do have a cringe-worthy sound……ICE! I hate the sound of people chewing it, a blender chopping it up, ice skates on an ice rink, and everything in between!

  7. Ohmygoodness, this post is ALLCAPSAWESOME. I love hearing which words make who cringe. (<–How's that for something only writers would say?!)

  8. Your list is my list! lol

  9. Your list made me laugh. MOIST is such a strange sounding word, I think, too.

For me, what drives me bananas is people that use the word ‘absolutely’ in every sentence. “I absolutely love… “… I always think, “but do you? do you really “absolutely” love something that much?” LOL. I dunno, maybe I’m weird. I can’t think of any others though…..

    Happy Friday! 🙂

    1. Thank you for the kind words Rhonda!

  13. Moist doesn’t bother me too much, but secretion, ewww.

    1. Haha, yes! That’s a bad one. It makes me think of all kinds of things. Hah, the word itself makes me feel dirty.

  14. 1 and 2 don’t bother me, but I definitely agree with 3 and 4! I also am not a big fan of the word “flesh”. But I don’t have that hard of a time with words themselves, but I feel the same way when people say the phrase “and what-not”. AHHHHHHHHH! I hate it so much!

    1. Haha!! I have a friend that doesn’t like “what not”.

  15. When I saw the title of your blog post, I immediately thought of moist. Aghhhhhhh!

    1. Haha! It is such a gross word, it almost ruined cake for me!

  16. My cringe worthy word is dewy. It makes me think of walking barefoot in wet grass and to me that’s not appealing

    1. I didn’t think of that one, i can see how it’s got the cringe factor. Ick, haha.

  17. Bwahaha… yes, I can see how those are cringe worthy! 😉

    1. Oh they just sound so dirty hah eek! Apparently “moist” is a big one, a lot of people i know don’t like it. Hah.

  19. Those don’t make me cringe, lol. My cringe-worthy words are words with no purpose, like ‘very’ for instance.

    1. Haha, that is funny. Yeah another cringe worthy is “to-do” hah, jk.

  20. These are not words i use at all, and you have listed all the reasons why. There are many others but this is a family friendly post.

    1. I try to keep it family friendly around here, I don’t want to offend anyone. Haha. I love you guys!

  21. LOL! I thought you were going to say racial epithets or something else, but yes you’re so right! Those are cringe-worthy. 😉

    1. Haha! I like to keep you guys on your toes.
